Mangaluru, Oct 20: The department of Forensic Medicine, Srinivas Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Center organized a guest lecture on 'Scientific aids in investigation' at Srinivas Institute of Medical Science and Research Center.
The speaker for the programme was retd DySP, Harish Chandra Hejmady, Karnataka Police. Hejmady explained the importance of evidences in crime and the role of investigators and forensic scientists in solving the crime. He further explained how forensics is moving from traditional methods of investigation towards the scientific ones.
The functioning of Automated Finger Print Identification System (AFIS), Facial Analysis and Criminal Identification System (FACIS) and superimposition was explained. He shared his experiences of dealing with these cases and narrated few case studies which made the students enthusiastic.
Further, Harischandra Hejmady was felicitated by Dr Uday Kumar Rao, dean, Srinivas Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Center and Dr Vrinda J Bhat, head, dept of Forensic Medicine for his selfless service in Karnataka Police.
