Kasargod, Oct 19: The public campaigning for Manjeshwar Vidhan Sabha by-elections concluded on Saturday, October 19 evening.
Candidates showed the amount of support to them by road shows in their last minute attempts to attract voters. Road shows were held in Hasangadi, Manjeshwar, Uppala, Bandyodu and village limits. Curtains were drawn for campaigns after three mass rallies by parties in Kumble. National and state leaders had campaigned for candidates for seventeen days.
The by election is being held for the seat that became vacant by the death of MLA P B Abdul Razak. Elections will be held on October 21 and votes will be counted on October 24.
UDF candidate P B Abdul Razak had defeated BJP’s K Surendran with a margin of mere 89 votes in the elections held in 2016. Therefore, three political parties have taken the by elections as a matter of prestige. The elections have aroused curiosity among people as three parties have introduced new faces.
