Puttur, Jul 29: 40-year old K M Nataraj, a native of the taluk and a senior advocate, was appointed as the additional advocate general of the state government, on Tuesday July 28.
Nataraj, who has been serving as a lawyer since the last 17 years, has functioned as the legal advisor for various firms including Bangalore Development Authority. After securing his degree in law from SDM Law College, Mangalore in 1992, he started his career as an advocate at JMFC court in Mangalore. Now, he has been elevated to the position of the additional advocate general.
The post of the additional advocate general in the state had fallen vacant after Ashok Harnahalli, who was in that post, was promoted as the advocate general subsequent to the resignation of earlier incumbent, Uday Holla. Nataraj is the second person to decorate the post after this post was created last year in the state, and also happens to be the youngest person in the entire country to be conferred with this honour.
Nataraj is from Konetota House in Eshwaramangala. His uncles K Govind Bhat and K Shivshankar Bhat had served as the judges of the state High Court. After completing his primary education in Eshwaramangala, he completed his college education in Puttur Vivekananda College. He also functioned as the president of the district All Studetns Union then.
He had started his service as an advocate in Bangalore under senior lawyer and former advocate general B V Acharya.
