Moodbidri, Oct 9: The joint annual camp to train for march past for republic day parade in Delhi in 2020 and select Mangaluru group level NCC cadets was held under the aegis of Alvas College from September 27 to October 6. The camp was held in the leadership of Camp commandant Colonel Badri Prasad. Lieutenant Colonel Nilesh Jha was the camp officer.
Lieutenant Trimurthi was the administrator of the camp and Lieutenant K Pravin Kumar was in charge of training and food. Second officer Yogaraj was in charge of medical services. Lieutenants Anjan Kumar in charge of security, Shivanand messing in charge, first officer Puttamma is charge of cultural activities, third officer Bhasker Naik sports, Lieutenant Kumaraswamy Udupa and third officer Monica were in charge of cultural division.
More than 599 cadets, 30 officers and trainers from Shivamogga, Mangaluru and Madikeri have taken part along with selected cadets.
The cadets were trained in personality development and leadership along with service orientation to prepare for NCC examinations. Competitions were held in arms handling, maps reading, firing and mock war.
Mangaluru Army recruitment officer Colonel Dubash gave details of army recruitment. Moodbidri community health officer Dr Kishore and Dr Ashuthosh were the resource persons.
Moodbidri fire brigade personnel gave information to cadets about fire mishaps and provided training to deal with them.
Prize distribution and cultural programme was held in the community auditorium. Camp commandant and staff have thanked Alvas education foundation, office bearers, members and college heads who helped to make the camp a success.
