Bangalore, Jul 25: In a big relief to the BJP government, which has been trying to snatch Karnataka Milk Federation from the clutches of the JDS, the state High Court gave its nod to hold elections to the apex state body. Justice Rammohan Reddy permitted the government through an interim order, to hold election to the post of the chairman of KMF and also to nominate directors to it. The election is to be held on Saturday July 25.
Justice Ramohan Reddy, who vacated the stay order issued to the election process in the Federation on July 17, directed the government to complete the process of nominating of directors and electing the chairman. Accordingly, the government has nominated state BJP president and MP D V Sadanand Gowda, state vice president Ashwath Narayan and Mangaladevi Biradar from Gulbarga to the posts of KMF directors.
It may be recalled, that Mandya district Milk Producers Union member Harish and others through a writ petition, had questioned the move of the government to nominate directors to the KMF before holding the election.
With this, the name of D V Sadanand Gowda has suddenly emerged as the most likely candidate to head the Federation, ahead of Bellary MLA Somashekhar Reddy and Araga Jnanendra. It is learnt, Yeddyurappa wants Gowda to head the KMF.
