Mangaluru: Technical talk organised at SDIT

Mangaluru, Oct 1: A technical talk was organised on ‘Vision 2020 and opportunities in Aerospace industry’ by Aeronautical Engineering department at Shree Devi Institute of Technology (SDIT), Kenjar on September 23 by K Jayaprakash Rao, former regional PRO, Defence Research and Development Organisation, Ministry of Defence, government of India.

Addressing the gathering, JP Rao spoke on the life history of Dr Kalam and his scientific prowess. He instilled Dr Kalam’s oath to the students and they repeated it with full energy and enthusiasm.

Jayaprakash highlighted that science, technology and research is the wave of the future. India needs more scientists to harness technology and the attraction for science among our young generation should increase. The country needs more scientists and motivated the students to take up the roles in various scientific organisations. He re-emphasized that ‘Sky is not the limit’ for the young engineers.

Rao inspired the audience with the video presentations of the great milestones of our nation moving towards the final frontier. He also stressed upon the commitment of our scientists towards indigenously developing world class weaponry to the level of super powers.

The experience that he shared with the audience was truly the life lessons that we need to incorporate in our lives. The guest lecture was followed by interactive session.

Dr Dilip Kumar K, principal addressed the students and told them to think and innovate, to question and come up with solutions. They should grab each and every opportunity to improve their skillset.

Dr K E Prakash, director addressed students to understand the problems of tomorrow; and design challenges focused on real-world Aerospace Industry needs.

Sudheer Kumar, HOD, Aeronautical department, programme coordinator Prof Suganthi P students and faculty were present on the occasion.
