Udupi, Oct 1: “We are lucky that in our lifespan we are renovating this temple and we are getting an opportunity to offer service to God,” said Sri Sugunendra Teertha Swamiji of Udupi Puttige Math.
Swamiji visited Mahathobara Sri Mahishamardini temple, Neelavara on Sharanavaratri and inaugurated the ‘Annachatra’ which was named as ‘Manaswini’. He completed the Shila and Daru Muhuruthas for the complete renovation of the temple and prayed for God’s blessings. “Because of ‘Annadana’ (donating food), purity of the temple as well as the divinity in God’s idol increases. It is believed that whatever is donated reaches God and hence boons are earned,” he said.
Many dignitaries were present during the renovation of the temple. Former minister Pramod Madhwaraj, district panchayat vice-president Sheela K Shetty, taluk panchayat member Nalini Pradeep Rao, Neelavara Village Panchayat member Asha S Kotian, temple priests Chandrashekar Adiga, Krishna Adiga, Raghavendra Adiga, Neelavara Arrangement Committee ex-president Suprasad Shetty, prominent people from the society Rajaram Shetty Brahmavara, Alevoor Yogish Acharya, Sadhu Serigar Benegal, K.T Nayka Chantaru, B N Shankar Poojary were present.
The programme was also attended by donors Anantapadmanabh Adiga, Pratap Hedge Cherkadi, Kushal Shetty, Krishnaya Shetty, Basava Nayak Temple’s working officer Prashanth Kumar Shetty, Arrangement Committee president N Raguram Madyasta, members Sudeer Kumar Shetty, Ramesh Poojary, Hema V Basri, Sadashiva Devadiga, Mallika S Shetty, Ramesh Naik, Surendra Suvarna.
The priests of the temple Ramakrishna Adiga, Raghavendra Kedlaya, PWD contractor Arooru Gururaj Rao were honoured. Sudeer Kumar Shetty welcomed the gathering. President M Raghuram Madyasta proposed the vote of thanks and Satishchandra Shetty compered the programme.
