Udupi, Jul 13: ‘Press Club Day’ was celebrated at Government First Grade Women’s College, Ajjarkad, on Sunday July 12. It was organized in association with the district Working Journalists’ Association and Women’s College.
Mohammed Arif Padubidri, reporter, ‘Vijaya Karnataka’ said that the press had fuelled the freedom struggle amidst the oppression of colonial rulers in the pre-Independence era. “The press has had a glamorously transformation and has created job opportunities. With the advent of digital and visual media, the students can improve their journalistic ability by writing their opinions and feedbacks to editors of various dailies”, he urged.
Government First Grade Women’s College principal Professor Ashwattamma inaugurated the programme.
District Working Journalists’ Association president Gokuldas Pai presided over the programme.
National Journalists’ Federation member Alevoor Dinesh Kini distributed prizes to the winners of elocution competition, held on the occasion of Press Club Day.
Association secretary Kiran Manjanabail welcomed the gathering. Manjappa delivered the introductory address and Pundalik Marate compered the programme.
