Udupi, Jul 10: Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) students have done it again. After successfully designing a formula racing car last year, they have developed a similar car to take part in the Formula SAE Competition to be held at Silverstone, London, United Kingdom from Thursday July 16 to Sunday July 19.
Formula Manipal, as the team is called, is a group of enthusiastic engineering students, who have designed the car with guidance from faculty advisor and mechanical engineering professor Dr K Jagannath.
The car was conceptualized and fabricated entirely in the automobile workshop of Manipal University. The new model is the second variant of the Formula Manipal car that was launched last year by Manipal University chancellor Dr Ramdas M Pai.
This year’s car was unveiled by MIT director, Brig D Somnath Mishra. Head of mechanical and manufacturing engineering Dr N Yagnesh Sharma, and Formula Manipal Car ‘ 09 faculty advisor Dr K Jagannath were present at the ceremony.
