Kundapur, Jul 6: The family of a woman, who died on Sunday July 5 in a private hospital in the town, has charged the doctors of the hospital of medical negligence. The woman had given birth to a baby a week ago. They have filed a police complaint in this connection, against the hospital and its doctors.
Jyoti (26), wife of Nagaraja Poojary from Koni village near here, had been admitted into a private hospital on Church Road in the town, on June 28 for delivery. Caesarian Section was conducted on her during child birth, leading to the birth of a baby boy.
The mother and child continued to be healthy after delivery. The family members said, the mother had got up twice on Saturday night. When she did not wake up at 6.30 am and finding that she did not respond to the attempts of the relatives to wake her up, the doctors were informed. The doctors confirmed that she had died. The family members, taken aback by this sudden development, gathered in front of the hospital and demanded for conducting tests to determine the cause of death, before complaining to the police.
Hospital doctors said they too were surprised at the sudden death of the lady. They claimed that the woman had been happy, when she was told on Saturday that she would be discharged on Sunday. "Post mortem examination alone can provide us a clue about the causes of her death. We too are concerned. We had informed the policemen about her death, with the aim of conducting post mortem," they clarified.
