Mangaluru: ICYM Catholic Action League holds CAL CUP

Mangaluru, Aug 20: ICYM Catholic Action League, Bendore, held CAL CUP 2019, an inter parish football tournament at City Arena, Mangalore on August 18. Twenty parishes participated in the tournament. John Errol Samuel was the patron for the event.

Fr Vincent Monteiro, parish priest, St Sebastian Church, Bendore, presided over the programme along with chief guest J R Lobo, former MLA, Mangaluru South constituency, Austin Peris, guest of honour, Mavis Rodrigues, secretary, Bendore Parish Pastoral Council, Sujith Noronha, animator, Stephen Veigas, president, Dheeraj Lobo, convener, CAL Bendore unit, were the other dignitaries at the event.



Dheeraj Lobo welcomed the guests and the gathering. Fr Vincent Monteiro and J R Lobo inaugurated the tournament by unveiling the trophies of CAL CUP 2019 and addressed the gathering by encouraging the youth to develop their personality and be united as one family. Stephen Veigas rendered the vote of thanks. Nihal Rego compered the inaugural ceremony.

John and Tanvir officiated the matches. Cordel unit bagged the CAL CUP 2019 while Bendore unit bagged the runners up trophy. The closing ceremony and handing over the trophies was presided over by Fr Vincent Monteiro and Austin Peris representing John Errol Samuel. Ranson Crasta rendered the vote of thanks and Neema Fernandes compered the concluding ceremony.
