Mangaluru: Manipal School holds ‘Go Green Ride’

Media Release

Mangaluru, Jul 1: The ‘Go Green Ride’, an initiative of Manipal School in collaboration with We Are Cycling (WERC), was a part of the World Environment Day celebrations at school.

The ride was flagged off from the school campus by principal Anuradha Shivaram and was led by the founding member of WERC Brijesh. The students in their colourful sports uniform were rearing to ride their bicycles but they waited patiently and listened carefully to the elaborate instructions given by Harnish Raj a senior member of the cycling club and a parent at Manipal School.

The weather was pleasant with a spattering of rain now and again, teachers, parents and the expert riders from WERC led the students along the roads of Attavar, Mangaladevi and Falnir that were just waking up to the morning traffic.

The students regrouped at Mangaladevi Temple and performed a ‘nukkad natak’ highlighting environmental issues. They chanted slogans like ‘Pedo ka na apmaan karo pedo ka samman karo’. Curious passers-by stopped and watched the performance and cheered the students for their efforts.

The riders were back in school right in time for their morning classes. It was a morning well spent for the seventy odd riders who said that it was wonderful experience and was something that they would want to repeat.
