St Philomena Aided High School Puttur felicitates Nalin Kumar Kateel

Puttur, Jun 8: Nalin Kumar Kateel, elected for the third consecutive term as MP, Mangaluru constituency, also senior student of St Philomena Aided High School, was felicitated on behalf of the school management, staff and students on June 7 at the school auditorium.

Speaking on the occasion, Nalin Kumar Kateel expressed his deep gratitude to his alma mater. He said, “I have received many felicitations so far, but this honour conferred today on me, with so much love and trust by the school authorities, is of special significance to me. It is equal to the Padma Bhushan award. I really feel honoured by this gesture of my own school. Though a mediocre student in my school days, I was inspired and encouraged by late Denis D'Souza, the then headmaster of this institution. The value based education which I then received, has boosted this development of mine.”

Thus attributing his achievements to the strong foundation he received in this school he continued, “I have never resorted to politics of hatred during the last ten years as an MP. Instead, through sincere politics, I have done justice to the trust reposed on me by the alma mater and the people. In future too, I will endeavour to discharge my duties to the fullest satisfaction of all.”



N K Jaganni vasa Rao, the president of the alumni association felt that Nalin Kumar could grace this honourable position through God's grace. Differences of opinion are common in politics. Irrespective of these differences, Nalin Kumar Kateel has succeeded in reaching all kinds of people by his cheerful attitude. Offering the Prasadam of Lord Mahalingeshwara the local deity, he also wished that Kateel would soon get an opportunity to serve the people as a central minister.

Dr Sooryanarayana, vice president of the PTA opined that being a senior student of this school, Nalin Kumar Kateel who has secured an opportunity to serve the people for the third consecutive period, has become a model to the present students. The correspondent and also the president of the programme Fr Alfred J Pinto appreciated Kateel for adding another feather to the illustrious legacy St Philomena High School. He felt that being an old student of this school, he is a source of inspiration to the younger generation. His simplicity and pursuit of relentless service are the testimonies to his decency in politics.

On this occasion, Anusha of 10th standard was also felicitated for participating in the International Science Fair, held in USA. Oswald Rodrigues, the headmaster welcomed the gathering and said that no senior student of this school has become a central minister. He hoped that Nalin Kumar, who has won the hearts of the people by his sincere works during these ten years, would get a chance soon to be part of the central cabinet. Molly Fernandes, a teacher of the school, proposed the vote of thanks.

Rajshekhar compered the programme. John Cutinha, the vice president of the alumni association, Jeston Menezes, the school pupil leader were also present on the stage.

Clement Pinto and Peter Naresh Lobo assisted in the arrangement of the programme in various capacities. Saja Radhakrishna Alva, member of the Puttur taluk panchayat, other leaders, office bearers of the alumni association and PTA were also present on the occasion.
