Mangaluru, Jun 6: World Environment Day was celebrated at Lourdes Central School. The event started with a morning assembly and a prayer. Student, Viha Shetty started with an inspiring piece on environment.
The theme for the event was ‘Beat Air Pollution’ by Reola Mendonca. She spoke on the importance of clean air and taking measures against air pollution.
Among students, Rishal Pinto shared an insight on causes and effects of air pollution and Philicia Crasta pointed out the different measures to control air pollution. She also spoke about UN urging the governments, industries, communities and individuals to explore renewable energy and green technologies. This would help in improving the quality of air in cities and regions across the world.
The talks were then followed by a song entitled 'Go Green' played by the school choir. The principal, Fr Robert D’Souza, said green revolution is the best solution to stop pollution. He educated the students to protect nature and control air pollution. Further, he commended the Eco club for organizing World Environment Day.
The students created awareness by displaying charts on the lobby notice board. Students also created charts to display on their bulletin boards of their floors.
The compering for the entire event was carried out by Hridi Jain and Anvitha Shetty.
