New Delhi, Apr 28: In a shocking incident, a 14-year-old girl was gangraped repeatedly by her neighbours over a period of three days in Jagdish Nagar near Usmanpur. The girl, whose family was threatened and told to remain silent, lodged a police complaint on Sunday, 12 days after the incident. The girl, admitted in a local hospital, was recovering from her trauma.
"We registered a case of rape, illegal confinement and threat against the two alleged rapists and their uncle. A raid was conducted in eastern UP and all three accused were nabbed. A medical examination of the girl has confirmed rape,'' said S S Yadav, DCP (northeast).
According to a senior police officer, the girl, daughter of a small-time clerk, had gone to the borewell about 50 metres away from her house on the morning of April 14. "The accused, who stay in the same building, attacked the girl around 6am while she was busy pumping the water. They dragged her inside a nearby toilet and raped her. When the girl started crying, they threatened to kill her and her mother. The shocked girl kept quite,'' said the officer.
However, her silence proved to be traumatic to her and the girl was brutally raped again on April 16 in a similar fashion. "This time though, the victim's mother heard muted voices and rushed to her daughter's aid. When the accused saw her coming, they fled from the scene. The accused stay on the third floor and the victim stays on the first-floor of the same building,'' said the officer.
While the accused had fled to UP, the uncle of one of the men, came to the girl's house and threatened the mother-daughter duo. "For the first ten days, they kept quite out of fear. But on Sunday morning they lodged a case at the Usmanpur police station on Sunday morning,'' said the officer.
