Bantwal, May 23: Officials of town municipality and MLA Rajesh Naik, who are striving tirelessly from the past one week to resolve the water issue in the town municipality limits visited intucwell at Jakribettu and inspected the pumping system. They also sought informmation from the concerned officials about the availability of water in the well at present. They also visited the water treatment plant and inspected the proceedings.

Speaking to the scribes after the inspection, Rajesh Naik said, "I have been running around from the past one month to resolve the water issues of the public under the Bantwal taluk limits and made efforts for no water scarcity to the people. From the past few days there was water issue under the limits of town municipality. From the evening of Tuesday, May 21 water is being pumped through dredging by the use of boats. Five MLD water is accumulated in the eight hours period of pumping and the same is supplied to the town area limits.

"Bantwal needs eight MLD of water and 10 to 12 hours of pumping is required for the same. Let the public do not panic about non-availability of water. More than enough water is stored on the upper part, but the same is not flowing to the lower part due to the obstruction created by the rocks. If the water is pumped in the same manner using boat dredging there will not be any scarcity of water under the town municipality limits.

"We are taking all steps to ensure that there is no scarcity of water for the people living under the limits of Bantwal town municipality. However, the public should utilize the water judicially taking into consideration the prevailing situation."

Member of town municipality Govind Prabhu, former member Devdas Shetty, member of zilla panchayat Tungappa Bangera, engineer of KUWSD, Shobhjalaxmi, engineer of town municipality Dominic D'Mello and Joseph were present.
