Brahmavar, May 20: A pick -up truck that was returning after attending to decoration of a marriage hall hit a lorry from behind at Uppoor near here on Sunday May 19. In this accident, a person lost his life while four others suffered serious injuries.
Those in the pick-up truck had finished with the decoration of a private hall at Koteshwar and were returning to Udupi when the accident happened at around 3 am on Sunday. It is said that the driver of the truck applied brakes all of a sudden without giving any signal, on the service road near a Daba at Uppoor village, when the pick-up driver lost control and rammed into the truck from behind.
The intensity of the collision was so great that the pick-up truck was badly mangled. Hanumanthu (21) who was in the truck, died on the spot. Shubhadat Danduphat, Bheemanna Dalai, Pradeep Dalai, and driver, Shivanand Goravar, suffered serious injuries. All of them were shifted to KMC Hospital at Manipal for treatment.
The deceased was a native of Badami taluk i n Bagalkot district. He was the last son of Shivappa and Laxmavva couple. He was residing with his family near Lord Shanishwara temple at Bannanje, Udupi.
A case about the accident was registered in Brahmavar police station.
