Mangaluru: 'Mantra Grom Search' surfing competition for children held at Panambur beach

Mangaluru, May 19: Panambur beach in the city witnessed a surfing competition 'Mantra Grom Search' for child surfers of the city on Sunday, May 19.

This competition was organized for the second time to search young talents in surfing, under the joint auspices of Surfing Swamy Foundation, Mantra Surf Club, Adventure Works, Thunder Monkey and Flyerwire Surf Board.

Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil distributed the prizes for the winners. All the winners were honoured with a special sports kit, a trophy and cash.

Speaking after distributing the prizes, DC Sasikanth Senthil said, "Surfing is a highly adventurous sport, which requires support. The city of Mangaluru has enough beaches, which is essential for this sport. All support from the district administration will be given to promote this sport. The students who are getting trained in surfing should give importance to their studies also and excel well in it also."

Gaurav Hegde of Swamy Foundation said, "A great opportunity is created for the children who live in sea shore areas to showcase their talents. We will provide free training in future to the talented children who have taken part in the competition."

Yatish Baikampady, CEO of Panambur Beach, Rammohan Pai, entrepreneur, office bearers of Mantra Surfing, Swamy Foundation and other organizations were present.

Under 16 Boys Category 

1st Place - Selvam 

2nd Place - Praveen 

3rd Place - Subbu 


Under 13 Boys Category

1st Place - Naman  

2nd Place - Akash 

3rd Place - Prakash 


Girls Open Category

1st Place - Chirali 

2nd Place - Akhila
