Kadaba: Dead rat found in ration rice supplied from town's shop

Kadaba, May 17: A dead rat was found in the rice issued for a BPL ration card holder by a fair price shop located in the town.

A resident of Patna in Kodimbala village,who holds a BPL card, had bought 35 kg rice from a fair price shop here. Noticing that the quality of rice was substandard, he decided to spread the rice for drying it further under the hot sun. When he opened the gunny bag and started spreading the rice, he found a dead rat inside the rice. A complaint about the finding was filed with the food inspector at Puttur.

Ramesh Kalpure, president of the cooperative society which runs the fair price shop in question said that he has learnt about the dead rat found in the rice. He noted that it had not come to the attention of the staff who weighed the rice when delivering it to the ration card holder. He said he would look into the matter.
