Udupi, Apr 18: Akshata, whose marriage is to take place on Thursday April 18, did not want to lose the right to exercise her franchise in the Lok Sabha election. She came to the polling booth set up at Indiranagar primary school at Hebri in the district, and polled her vote as the first voter of the day at this booth today.
The bride set an example for others to emulate by treating her voting right as a sacred duty that cannot be overlooked just because it was her wedding day.
Marriage happens to be an immemorable experience for most people. Casting vote is also a celebration that is no less important. Akshata reached the polling booth before proceeding to the venue where wedding rituals were taking place since morning. With this, she has given a message to others not to take the participation in the democratic process of voting lightly.
Polling has been brisk in Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency, as people queued up before their polling centres since early morning.
This is an occasion on which the common people get to exercise their right to choose who should represent them. This time, the people seem to have been taking part in the process with added enthusiasm.
