Mangaluru: Customs officials seize gold worth Rs 14.09 lac from 2 passengers

Mangaluru, Apr 18: The customs officials at the airport here found that two passengers who arrived here on Tuesday April 16 were smuggling 447.61 grams of gold worth Rs 14.09 lac. The duo had come by a flight from Dubai.

One of these passengers had concealed gold in the form of paste which was stuffed into his anal cavity.
He was found to be in possession of 395.26 grams of gold worth Rs 12.84 lac.

 

The other person had hidden 52.350 grams of gold in the form of fishing rod inside his bag. Its value has been estimated at Rs 1.25 lac, said the press release by the officials.

    Strategic bases for Smuggling....
    either by Country crafts/boats or Flight.
    has been going on since ages.
    if ten carry gold 2 get caught.
    what about the rest.
    This is all DRAMA..
    All hand in glove..top to bottom.
    If any one fears the LAW this will never happen.
    Since the LAW remains in books.
    action is on ground is simply MONEY TALKS..

    there was no smuggling then..
    any one could officially carry and deliver to the banks.
    now, what is going on???
    once caught.confiscate all Gold.. smuggled goods.
    and Let them languish in prison....as per LAW.
    this is too bad..
    Its like AIR INDIA.. crew ( Govt run airlines) most are Carriers in the chain..net work..all covered/share the Deal.
    Unions protect them..

    where does these golds go after seizing.
    why most of the times in mangalore airport.
    i think may be once again it goes to dubai and comes back to mangalore airport.
