Bengaluru: BJP demands resignation of minister D K Shivakumar

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Mar 25: State BJP has asked minister, D K Shivakumar, to own moral responsibility and resign from the state ministry. It has pointed out that the income tax department has seized property worth Rs 75 crore belonging to water resources minister, Shivakumar, because of Benami transaction. It said that his continuance in the ministry is an insult to the Indian Constitution.

"Several tax evasion cases have been registered against Shivakumar. Officials have confiscated crores of rupees worth cash and documents during the raids. National president of Congress, Rahul Gandhi, should take strict action against ministers of the coalition government who are facing serious allegations," the party demanded. This demand was put forth by state BJP spokesperson, Suresh Kumar, addressing a press meet here on Sunday March 24.

Kumar said that the coalition government is witnessing infighting between coalition partners and their leaders. He accused certain leaders of the coalition government of issuing provocative statements against the opposition. He pointed out that Congress leader and former MLA, Belur Gopalkrishna, had issued instigative statements against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Now, JD(S) leader, Shivalinge Gowda, has called upon his party men to slap those who shout slogans in favour of Modi. He said that his party would be filing official complaint against these leaders with the Election Commission.

Suresh Kumar also demanded for the arrest of Congress national spokesperson, Randeep Suurjewala, for making false allegations against BJP state president, B S Yeddyurappa, and releasing a fake diary, claiming it to be belonging to Yeddyurappa. He demanded apology for this deliberate attempt at character assassination from Rahul Gandhi.
