Bengaluru, Mar 25: Soon after differences cropped up over Congress-JDS seat adjustments in Lok Sabha elections, an audio tape of conversation of former Congress minister Cheluvarayaswamy with a JD(S) leader to support BJP supported independent candidate Sumalatha in Mandya has gone public.
The tape has exposed Congress work against JD(S) candidate even after seat adjustment. The audio bomb just on the previous day of submission of nomination papers by Nikhil has created controversy.
The audio has recording of phone call to Mandya leader Shivaprakash Babu from Cheluvarayaswamy asking him to work in favour of Sumalatha. Different statements are heard soon after the audio was heard in the media. JD(S) activists and leaders have expressed anguish against Congress.
Chief minister Kumaraswamy reacting to the tape said that it is a proof of developments in the constituency. “We have brought it to the notice of Congress leaders. I will not go to anybody for it,” he said.
As Congress people are working secretly against JDS candidates in Mandya, Hassan and Tumkur some JDS leaders in Kolar, Chikkaballapur and Mysuru are preparing to revolt. It is said that there can be cracks between Congress-JDS coalition because of that.
Dinesh and Zameer visit chief minister
As the audio tape went public, KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao and minister Zameer Ahmed visited chief minister Kumaraswamy at his residence and held discussions. It is said that the leaders assured the chief minister that the differences in Mandya and other places will be set right. “Congress is with you. Close people will be called and warned,” they reportedly said.
