Media Release

Udupi, Mar 24: The ICYM and YCS Unit of St. Lawrence Church Moodubelle organized Taize Prayer on Saturday, May 23 at 7 pm at the church hall. Fr Clement Mascarenhas welcomed Derick Mascarenhas, diocesan coordinator for the year of youth 2019 and all the youths and parishioners for the candle lit prayer service. He appreciated the youth for coming together and praying together and for each other in this quiet and serine atmosphere.

The prayer service was led by Derick Mascarenhas in a unique way with melodioushymns and reading from the bible passage. An hour of prayer with devotion was attended by large number of youths of the parish and few parishioners.

Taizé prayer has been gaining popularity in Catholic and Protestant churches. Taizé prayer is the creation of a monastic community in Taizé, France, founded in the 1940s by a Swiss man known as Brother Roger. The main purpose was to bring together all the youths.

The arrangement of ambience was guided and coordinated by Fr Lawrence Cutinha, assistant parish priest and ICYM Director Udupi deanery. Anita Dsouza with the youths beautifully decorated the lamps with the bricks. It was indeed a very unique experience of being together and praying.

Vilton Dsouza, president of the Yuva Aayog Moodubelle and president of ICYM Udupi deanery and Deril Dsa, president of YCS Udupi deanery actively worked together with the youths to make this event a memorable one. The ICYM animators were present and supported the activity.
