Mangaluru, Mar 23: A successful Eco-Bricks project was inaugurated at Zilla Panchayat Higher Primary School, Patna Talapady.
The Eco-Bricks project was implemented in Talapady by the MSW field work practicum students Veronica and Marvin from St Aloysius College (autonomous), Mangaluru under the guidance of CODP, Mangaluru.
They started the project on January 31 inaugurated by Gerald D' Silva, faculty of department of Social Work St Aloysius College Mangaluru along the students of Class 6 and 7 of Zilla Panchayat Higher Primary school, Talapady.
The students of the school (class 6 and 7) have shown their much zeal and have participated enthusiastically throughout the project.
They have received immense support and guidance from CODP, school management and panchayat because of which the project out successfully.
The students stuffed 70 bottles and have constructed 6 library stools using glue gun.
As the project was successfully completed, the inauguration of the stools out of plastic bottles was held on Friday, March 22 at Zilla Panchayat Higher Primary Patna Talapady.
The special guest of the day was the programme manager of CODP Lenet Gonsalves. The other guests present were PDO of talapady gram panchayat, CODP animator Vani and the staff of zilla panchayat Higher Primary School Patna Talapady.
The programme began with a prayer song by Supriya after which Valder Marvin welcomed the gathering.
Lenet Gonsalves, inaugurated the project and addressed the students of their role in curbing the menace of plastic waste. She congratulated the students for converting plastic waste into Eco-Bricks.
Keshav Poojary, PDO also was proud of the efforts of the students and stressed on how animals and birds die because of consumption of plastic. The students who had stuffed highest number of bottles were awarded.
