Udupi, March 16: Sahabalve is all set to organise Sarva Janotsotsava conference in Udupi Royal garden on Sunday, March 17 at 3 pm. "All required arrangements are done. But with Model Code of Conduct being declared, it could be a problem," said Sahabalve president Amrith Shenoy.
Addressing a press meet at its office in Sitara complex on Friday, March 15, Shenoy said “Sahabalve means harmony, which is how an Indian lives. But in these days, a conspiracy is going on to weaken that unity. It is happening everywhere including Udupi. It is constantly attacking human life and dignity,” he said.
Adding that Sarva Janotsava aims to tackle these issues, he said the programme is open for all religions, community and any party.
The main purposes of the Sarva Janotsava are upholding principles of freedom, equality and brotherhood; for protecting Indian Constituency, which is the basis of democracy; to protect legacy of secularism and spread sarva dharma samabhava message; strengthening the wholeness and unity along with the diverse religion, language, region and pantha; upholding the pride of the nation, which is known as peace-loving and to destroy anti- powers.
“Sarva Janotsava is a non party, non political event. It is platform of different principles, all party and all religion. Sahabalve members are expecting 20000 to 25000 people to participate,” Shenoy said.
The programme will have spiritual leaders, political leaders, thinkers like Siddha Basava Kabir Mahaswamij, Maralukankara Deva Guru Peeta, Kalburgi, D K Shivakumar, minister for Water resource, G N Nagaraj, leader CPI (M), Y SV Datta, president of publicity committee, JD(S) leader Shivasundar, columnist and journalist Dinesh Amin Mattu, Journalist and thinker Mahendra Kumar, Social thinker Indhudhar Honnapur, Dalit thinker and journalist, Fr Chethan Lobo, editor of Ujwad magazine, Abdussalam Puttige, general editor, Varthabharathi daily news paper, V R Sudarshan, former speaker Legislative council will participate in the programme.
District Muslim Okkoota president Yasin Malpe, former taluk panchayat president Veronica Carnelio, Roshni Olivera, thinker G Rajashekar, CPI state secretary Balakrishna Shetty, Dalit leader Vishwanath Pethri, Prameela Jathan, Janardhan Bhandarkar, Anitha D’souza, Stevan Culaco, William Martis office bearers Idris Hoode, Abdul Azeez, Maxim D’ Souza, Khaleel Kerady and others were present.
