Mangaluru, Mar 8: St Ann’s College of Education (autonomous) celebrated International Women’s Day highlighting the theme ‘Balance for Better’.
The chief guest of the day was Dr Lavina Noronha, director, Ave Maria Palliative Care.
The speaker stressed on the discriminations against women and need of changing social patterns to empower women through education. She also emphasized the role of teachers to lift women to express her fullest.
The programme was presided over by Dr Sr Clare AC, principal, St Ann’s College of Education who enlightened the teacher trainees on their power as teachers to make a difference in society. Students highlighted the role of women through various cultural programmes.
An exuberant mime show, an elegant dance portraying empowerment of women, ‘Jeethe Hain Chal’- a melodious song and a skit highlighting the causes for women’s shortcomings in society were performed.
The significance of the day was presented by Janavi Sanal, BEd student president.
Gauri Desai, BEd student compered the programme. Meral D’Souza delivered the vote of thanks. Laveena D’Sa, assistant professor coordinated the programme.
The MEd and BEd students along with staff were the beautiful audience.
