Mangaluru: ‘Aloysian Fest’ inaugurated at St Aloysius College

Mangaluru, Feb 7: The inauguration of the national level fest ‘Aloysian Fest 2019’ held on February 7 in the college premises.

Renowned cine actress Esther Noronha inaugurated the programme by unlocking the treasure box, containing the logos of the seven events held during the fest. Rector of St Aloysius institutions Fr Dionysius Vaz, presided over the programme. Principal, Fr Dr Praveen Martis, registrar Dr A M Narahari Dr Narayan Bhat, coordinator, Dr Ratan Tilak Mohunta, assistant coordinator, Fr Melwyn Lobo,finance officer, Directors of various blocks, Dr Alwyn D'Sa, Fr Pradeep Anthony, Dr Richard Gonsalves, John Edward D'Silva and Relston Lobo, the president of Students' Council were present on the dais.



 

This ‘Aloysian Fest 2019’ comprises fests such as ART-BEAT from the faculty of Arts, ACME from the faculty of Commerce, COMPOSITE from the faculty of BCA, IMPRINTS from the faculty of Science, SPINOUT from the faculty of BBA. In addition to this, there are two more fests, ASTITVA, the Cultural Fest of all the faculties and ALOYSIAD, the Sports Fest. More than 700 students from 70 college are likely to participate in more than 90 events conducted by various faculties.

Actress Ester Noronha in her inaugural address, said, "It is indeed a privilege for me to be invited here as the Chief Guest, when there are so many eminent people out there. This fest brings out the energy and talents among youth. I see so much life here, with enthusiastic and energetic students all geared up to unleash their talent s during this 3-day Fest". She also said, "When I opened the treasure box, I felt like opening up our life treasure box, because we are treasures of ourselves, to our family, our community, to the nation and world. She suggested the student community to keep your interest alive. “Winning is not important, but your participation that counts. Along with academics, it is important to take part in the co-curricular activities also. This is an opportunity to explore your talents and art. Indulge yourself in various activities and keep yourself occupied,” she added.

Principal Fr Praveen Martis said, “Art is an effort to create, beside the real world, a more human world. This Fest will give the students an ample opportunity to unleash their hidden talents. Art, freedom and creativity will change society faster than politics. Experts say that we all have a wellspring of creative energy. The secret is how to tap it. So make the best use of this 3-day fest, and showcase your talents and come out in flying colors.” He wished the participants best of luck.

Rector Fr Dionysius Vas in his presidential remarks said, "When you really want something, sometimes you have to swim a little deeper. You can’t give up just because things do not come easy. You have to overcome the obstacles. If you believe in yourself, you will always come through with flying colors. He advised the students to value friendship, love and faith. This fest is the platform where you can showcase your talents.”

Actress Esther Noronha entertained the crowd with the foot-tapping hit Konkani song ‘Despacito’.

The programme compered by Tanya Mathai, III BCom. Dr Narayana Bhat welcomed the gathering. The vote of thanks was proposed by Relston Lobo.

    "Fests" and Festivals, specially for the students in one way a celebration of the season so that various celebrations and jubilations can be planned during each season of the school year. This way, both the students and the faculty members can spare some time to set aside and enjoy the season with various celebrations.

    This is one way to enjoy a holiday season and relax well by utilizing the festivals and join the happiness of other students.

    Eventually, the students benefit from these festivals and spend some of their leisure time in enjoyment. Let the students enjoy some of their holidays with the company of other students and divert their minds from the regular studies. Ultimately, all students should pass in their exams and earn their desired degrees, as planned.
