Mangaluru: St Aloysius College to host 'Aloysian Literature Festival' from Feb 9 to 16

Mangaluru, Feb 7: The department of Postgraduate Studies and Research in English, St Aloysius College (autonomous), here will organise an 'Aloysian Literature Festival' from February 9 to February 16.

The event will be inaugurated on February 9 by Fr Dionysius Vaz, SJ, rector of St Aloysius Institutions, Fr Praveen Martis SJ, Principal, Abhaya Simha will be the guest of honour.

On February 9 and 10, a workshop on Film Appreciation, will be offered by Abhaya Simha, director, screenwriter and winner of National Award for two of his films.

On February 9 at 7 pm Ninasam Tirugata team will perform 'Sethu Bhandana', written and directed by Akshara K V and on February 10 at 7 pm 'Ashcharya Choodamani' written by Shakthi Bhadra, translated by Venkataramana Aithal and directed by Joseph John will be performed.

A national seminar on Ecology and Literature will be organised on February 11 and 12. Jnanpitha Awardee, Prof Chandra Shekar Kambar will inaugurate the seminar and Prof Pramod K Nayar from the University of Hyderabad will deliver the keynote address. Prof Nagesh Hegde, environmentalist and journalist, Prof Nagaraju from Central University of Karnataka, Prof Rajendra Chenni, director of Manasa, Shivasundar, journalist and activist, Prof K S Vaishali from Bengaluru University, Prof Vijaya Kumar Boratti from University of Mysore and Raghunandana, poet, playwright and stage director have been invited as resource persons.

'Amrutha Ghalige', a play written by Dr Saraswati, head of the department of Kannada will be released during the inauguration of the seminar by Prof Chandrashekara Kambar.

Dr Vaishali K S: Reconfiguring the relationship between the Human and No-Human: Towards an Environmentalist Praxis
Prof Nagesh Hegde: 'Pope's Encyclical : Religion and Science to Rescue our Planet (a visual lecture)

A workshop on 'Playing the World: Intuition, Enquiry, Insight: A Workshop in Cultural Studies and Critical Thinking through Theatre and Arts appreciation' will be offered by Raghunandana, poet-playwright and stage director from February 13 to 15.

A workshop on 'Creating Editorial Cartoons' will be offered by Satish Archarya on February 16.

Valedictory of Aloysian Literature Festival is arranged on February 16.

Director Mafeii block Dr Loveena Lobo will preside over the programme and the dean of PG Studies will be guest of honour.

All the events are open to students, teachers and interested persons.
