Mangaluru, Feb 7: The Design and Development (D&D) SmartLabs, a start-up based out of St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, won the Top Rams Business Competition at Thomas Jefferson University, USA (Philadelphia Thomas+Jefferson University) conducted by Entrepreneurship BlackStone Launchpad in November 2018.
John Rodrigues, the Founder and CEO of D&D SmartLabs and an alumnus of St Joseph Engineering College along with DelaraKiani, pitched for D&D Smart Kit. D&DSmart Kit is an electronic prototyping kit and online learning resourcefor students involved in product design as well as innovators, that helps to make interactive prototypes with visual programing. D&D SmartLabs received a grant of 1 lakh rupees to further develop their product.
Incepted at St Joseph Engineering College, D&D Smart Kit, a product of D&D SmartLabs has a bigger vision of building a platform from where students can buy user friendly kits in addition to taking the courses designed for them. This in turn would help students start their exciting journey of learning and build on their ideas.The team at D&D believes keeping all designs simple and create a rich user experience around the kits which would result in helping students to bring their ideas to life.
D&D Smart Kit is currently being mentored by Blackstone Launchpad Entrepreneurship Center and Collaborizm, by Steven Reubenstone(Founder and CEO of Collaborizm).
The alumni team of St Joseph Engineering College consisting of JohnRodrigues, ClaranMartis, Founder and CTO of D&D SmartLabs and Winston D’Souza, COO of D&D SmartLabsis continuing towork on more such meaningful products. More exciting products arein the pipeline to be rolled out in the coming days, one of which is D&D Smart Prints.
