Udupi, Feb 3: Importance of Constitution of India was made memorable by celebrating it meaningfully by Milagres English medium school, Kallianpur last week by organizing three-day ‘Constitution Week’ for students from January 31 to February 2. Awareness Club and Young Students Movement (YSM) clubs of the school together took the initiative to increase the knowledge regarding the rich treasure and heritage called the Constitution.
The three-day Constitution Week was inaugurated on January 31 at 9.30 in the high school Hall by advocate Madhav Acharya, one of the prominent advocates of Udupi. He spoke to the students at length for half a day in two batches. The input session helped the students to have a birds’ eye view of the Constitution, its features, parts, amendments, meanings of the terms and significant aspects and contributions of our forefathers who toiled to frame the Constitution. Students from class 6 to 9 benefited the most from these input sessions.
As part of this celebration on the second day, awareness club members displayed information on Indian constitution and its salient features on the corridors of the school. Special quiz and preliminary round of preamble declamation were held. Over 100 students participated actively in the preamble competition. Three finalists from each class were selected for the Final.
On the third day, special assembly was organized which coincided with the celebration of national Integration day. Students and staff joined together for the oath taking ceremony in the morning. Then at 9.30 am the grand finale of declamation competition was held.
Fr Lancy Fernandes, headmaster motivated the students to appreciative and know about the constitution at least the preamble. The winners were given certificate and a book on Grandeur of India.
Veena D’Costa, coordinator of YSM and Vinny and Saveena co-coordinators of Social Welfare and Awareness Club co-operated in this event. Aditi and Varsha respectively, compered the inauguration and proposed the vote of thanks. It was a fruitful and meaningful celebration for the students.
