Udupi, Jan 27: District in-charge minister Dr Jayamala on Saturday, January 26 said that efforts are on to grant Rs 30 crore from the government to re-open Brahmavar sugar factory.
Presiding over a meeting held between Brahmavar sugar factory administrative board and farmer leaders at DC's office on Saturday January 26, she said, "On January 30 we will lead a delegation of farmer leaders and factory board members and meet sugar minister R B Timmapur. We will also discuss about keeping aside financial aid in the upcoming budget on February 8." She further said that opinions of sugar factory owners from other districts of the state in this regard to make the factory more profitable.
"A detailed report by experts of MITCON Consultancy & Engineering Services Pune has been prepared regarding re-opening of Brahmavar sugar factory. As per the report, the factory could be re-opened with a government aid of Rs 30 crore. We will also collect Rs 20 crore from co-operative societies for the same," said Brahmavar sugar factory president Jayasheela Shetty.
MLA Raghupati Bhat also assured of reopening the factory.
DC Priyanka Mary Francis and other farmer association representatives were present.
