Bantwal, Jan 27: In an incident that occurred on Saturday, January 26, fight between two gangs ensued after the police visited Kadambu under Vitlapadnoor village, Vittal near here for inquiry pertaining to the illegal trafficking of cattle, the information of which they got through sources. Leaders of Bajrang Dal and PFI were taken into custody by police on the accusation of obstruction in carrying out the duty of the police.
When the police went to Vittal-Salethur road based on information about illegal cattle trafficking, they did not find any vehicle or the cattle. When the police entered the inner lanes, they found two male buffaloes. But vehicle was not traced. In the meantime, Bajrang Dal activists arrived at the spot. Hundreds of people gathered at the spot within no time and verbal arguments started. Police dispersed the crowd. However, the clashed started between the gangs at Kadambu junction and it is said that the leaders of both the organizations even went to the extent of exchanging blows. Additional police force, which arrived at the spot resorted to mild lathi charge and dispersed the crowd, and arrested the leaders of both the organizations.
Laxmi Prasad, SP of the district, Saidulla Adavat, ASP, Nagaraj, circle inspector, Yellappa, SI of Vittal police station and personnel are camping at the spot of the incident. Additinal KSRP company is also called in for security and vehicles are being checked.
Police, who went in search of cattle, found two male buffaloes tied to the entrance gate of a house. However, on inquiry the inmates of the house gave some vague answer. Now the inquiry needs to be done as to who brought those male buffaloes at that spot.
In total three cases are registered on this incident. Two people belonging to one community are admitted into the hospital and a case is registered based on the complaint given by them. In addition, two cases are registered for trying to butcher the cattle illegally and obstructing the police in carrying out their duties. Teams are formed to nab the accused.
A leader, who is injured in the clash is admitted into the hospital and it is said that he is the main accused in the incident. Police are guarding the hospital to prevent him from escaping.
Giving information on the incident, Laxmi Prasad, SP of the district said, "Argument between two organizations has turned into a clash. The same is controlled by the timely intervention by the police. Video of the incident is available and further action will be taken based on the evidence available in the video. Already three separate cases are registered and inquiry is being conducted."
