Udupi, Jan 24: Heated arguments between MLA Raghupathi Bhat and district in-charge minister Dr Jayamala were witnessed during Nagarothana scheme programme held here on Thursday, January 24 at Kakkunje.
MLA Raghupathi Bhat said that MLAs were not invited for Nagarothana programme. “Vidhana Parishad opposition leader Kota Srinivas Poojary was not invited. Banners of former minister Pramod Madhwaraj are hung all over the town. Is it a Congress programme or a government programme?” he asked.
Taking minister Jayamala to task for having inaugurated the road here without inviting him, the MLA asked, “I am an MLA here. How far is it correct of not considering me at least for courtesy?”
The state government has constructed roads in various places worth Rs 35 crore. The projects were inaugurated in Kakkunje, Gopalapura among other places.
Bhat vented his anger against former MLA and minister Pramod Madhwaraj who watched the commotion sitting in the car.
Jayamala issues clarification on MLA Anand Singh
Jayamala said that she had not gone to visit MLA Anand Singh. “He is well. The case is being investigated. It was a personal fight of MLAs. MLAs from Ballary have fought. We do not support fights. But what can the political party do in that connection? It has not affected the image of Congress. We have not asked them to fight. Is it not possible that BJP people are responsible for the fights? We cannot say that only what appears to the eye is truth,” she said.
