Kundapur, Jan 9: While the fear of monkey fever is spreading across the state, two male six-year-old monkeys were found dead at KPC colony, Hosangadi on Wednesday, January 9.
Locals who saw the dead monkeys informed Hosangadi gram panchayat who in turn informed the veterinary clinic, primary health center and forest department.
The department official came to the spot, conducted postmortem and set fire to their bodies. The samples of the dead monkeys have been sent to Shivamogga laboratory.
With six people dying of monkey fever, which is also known as Kyasanur Forest Disease, in the neighbouring Shivamogga district, the people in the region are now worried over the spread of this disease here.
Hosangadi gram panchayat president Yashodha Shetty, vice president Sridhar, development officer Girishkumar Shetty, secretary Shivarama Shetty, Kundapur taluk health officer Dr Nagabhooshan, Shankernarayana veterinary hospital assistant director Dr Dinaker Shetty, KPC department health officer Dr Vijayalaxmi, Siddapur primary health center health officer Dr Deeksha N, senior health assistant Shivakumar and staff, forest officer Ravikumar, Ananda Balegar, forest guard Krishnamurthi Hebbar and others visited the spot and held investigation.
