Mangalore, Dec 27: Yenepoya University Chancellor Yenepoya Abdullah Kunhi will be the chief guest of the programme while Nitte University Chancellor N Vinay Hegde, Fr Muller’s Medical College Administrator Fr Denis D’Sa and Karnataka Lalitakala Academy former president Prof Andani V G will be the chief guests.
Addressing a news conference, SAAG Director Dr Akhter Hussain said that undivided Dakshina Kannada district has no dearth of good artists who can match international standards but it has dearth of quality art galleries where they could display their piece of art. With the aim of providing a platform for the artist to showcase their talent, Studio A is being built and it will provide platform from artists from all over the state and the country to come and showcase their work.
Dr Hussain said that the project SAAG aims at enriching ‘visual art culture’ in Mangalore, through promoting art by holding exhibitions, seminars, get together, organising regular exhibitions, bringing together artists and reaching out to people who would appreciate art. Conducting demonstrations, lectures and discussion sessions on art, encouraging budding art students and promoting art by conducting auctions of contemporary works of art are part of this.
The Studio will have on display works of Dr Akhter Hussain, N S Pattar, Ganesh Somayaji, Ananda Bedrala, Permude Mohan Kumar, Rajendra Kedige, Jeevan Saliyan, Purshotham Adve, Kandan G, Syed Asif Ali, Anil Devadiga, Dinesh Holla, Santhosh Andrade, Vishwas, Ravi M R, Vikas Gatty, Harish Kodialbail, Vasanth Rao, Jayavanth, Basavaraj Kutni, Sharath, Ramesh Kidiyur, Janardhan Rao Havanje, Ramakrishna Nayak V and A K Zuber Kudla. The studio also houses a portrait lounge with state of the art portrait photography facilities and large size printing facility. SAAG Co-ordinators N S Pattar and Kandan G were present
