Mangaluru, Dec 28: Zoology Department, Youth Red Cross and Eco Club of University College, here, jointly organized a one-day workshop on 'Current trend in Biodiversity' at Shivaram Karantha Bhavana at University College in the city on Thursday December 27.
Kiran Vati, assistant professor, St Aloysius College delivered an introductory speech on importance of biodiversity and its preservation. Dr Jayavantha Nayak, co-ordinator, PG studies in Economics presided over the programme.
The talks held were mainly based on the subject 'Mosquitoes’ of Dakshina Kannada‘, 'Diversity of Ants and wasp‘, ‘Butterflies of Western Ghats', ‘Frogs and toads of Western Ghats'.
Ishwara Prasad, HOD of zoology department, Vivekananda College, Puttur, Deepak, research scholar, department of Zoology, Vinith Kumar, assistant professor, St Aloysius College were presented the papers.
Dr Nagarathna K A, assistant professor, department of Zoology welcomed the guests. Dr Meenakshi, vice president, Youth Red Cross and Eco Club rendered the vote of thanks.
