Udupi: Milagres College Kallianpur holds session on Organic Chemistry

Udupi, Dec 22: A lecture programme was organised at Milagres College Kallianpur by Science Association.

Second BSc. students sought God’s blessing on the programme by singing a prayer song. Dean of Science and HOD of Chemistry, Prof Joseph Peter Fernandes welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest to the gathering. The chief guest and speaker of the programme Dr Anthony Melvin Crasto, principal scientist, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd Research Centre, Mahape, Navi Mumbai, delivered a talk on 'Organic Chemistry'. He explained about Hydrogen Bomb, formation of different bonds in different atoms, preparation of alcohol from sugarcane, production of electricity using reactors. He held discussions with the students after the session.

President of the programme, Dr Vincent Alva, principal, Milagres College, guest of honour of the programme Alfred Crasto and other dignitaries honoured the chief guest.

Dr Vincent Alva said in his presidential remark that, Dr Anthony Melvin Crasto is a role model to all of us.

Convener of Science Association Arenza Karen Sequeira, HOD of Physics delivered the vote of thanks.

Sofiya D’Souza of third BSc hosted the programme.

All the students of Milagres College, teaching and non-teaching staff, retired professors, alumni of Milagres College were present.
