Bengaluru: Assistant general manager of bank loses Rs 1.7 lac in online theft

Bengaluru, Nov 26: The assistant general manager of a nationalized bank has been looted of Rs 1.7 lac by online thieves from his bank’s SB account on November 13.

Sharath Panigrahi, who works in the Jayanagar, Bengaluru branch of Bank of Baroda is the victim.

Sharath has lodged a police complaint with Cybercrime police.

The bank official in his complaint said that he has neither shared his account details nor made online transactions with his debit card. In spite of that, his account was hacked for online transactions. He received no alerts from the bank.

As per information from cybercrime department, nearly 80% of the victims say that online fraudsters contacted them, posed as bank officials and obtained one time passwords from the victims.

The police department has warned not to share their account details with anyone.
