Bengaluru, Nov 22: Blaming media for twisting his statements, Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has vowed not to talk to the media again.
Kumaraswamy’s comments about farmer leader Jayashree Gurannavar went viral, causing embarrassment to the coalition government. However, Kumaraswamy hit back that his quote to 'instigate' sugarcane growers and other farmers was quoted out of contest.
“I am hurt by the attitude of the media. Certain elements are against me. They twist every comment made by me. It has caused me a lot of pain. Therefore, I have decided not to address any press meets in the future or engage with the media on a daily basis,” Kumaraswamy told News18 on Thursday dismissing media questions.
He also added that he shall not talk individually nor address any press meet. “I won’t address press meets. If you want to report, please do. If you don’t want, please don’t do. I don’t mind,” he was quoted saying.
Meanwhile, leader of opposition BS Yeddyurappa was quick enough to take a dig at the CM. He called the coalition government a ‘disaster’ and Kumaraswamy a ‘failed chief minister’ who was holding the media responsible for his “flippant attitude and shortcomings”.
According to sources, JDS-Congress coordination committee chairman Siddaramaiah has asked Deve Gowda to advise his son regarding his statements in public.
When Kumaraswamy took charge as Chief Minister for the second time in May this year, he had ordered to barricade the Chief Minister’s Office on the third floor of the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru to restrict media entry. This move had created a commotion, forcing him to soften his stand towards media.
