Mangaluru, Nov 17: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, Sasikanth Senthil, asked people, who come across instances of corruption in revenue department, to directly complain to Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), who will act against the guilty.
He was speaking at the district level Revenue Adalat programme held at the town hall here on Friday November 16. He was responding to a senior citizen's remark about having witnessed corruption in revenue department.
Some people raised the point about issues that are settled in the Land Tribunal not getting represented in the RTCs. The deputy commissioner said that in case of court cases, details get automatically noted in the RTC.
He observed that property cards are being issued in the city now in place of property surveys. This makes it easy for people to get Khata in the City Corporation and Mangalore Urban Development Authority, he observed. "Henceforth, property card is compulsory for sale and transfer of property. The card provides integrated details of the property in a single document containing seven pages," he stated.
At the Adalat, 185 applications were received and 55 applications were disposed off on the spot. Minister, U T Khader, said that the other applications also will get redressal or response within a time frame.
Additional deputy commissioner, Kumar, Puttur assistant commissioner, Krishnamurthy, Mangaluru tahasildar, Guruprasad, and probationary tahasildar, Madan, were present.
MLA, D Vedavyas Kamath, who was an invitee for the programme, remained absent from the programme. He said that he had received invitation for the programme scheduled for November 12. But he did not get official invitation for the rescheduled Adalat on Friday. He informed that he was told about the holding of the programme held at 10 am on Friday, just 15 minutes before.
The Adalat was planned to be inaugurated at 10 am by minister, U T Khader. But the minister or any people's representatives were not present till the afternoon. A participant, Jerald, who reached the dais, expressed the feeling that if the legislators were present, issues mentioned here could have been raised in the assembly. The deputy commissioner said that the minister will arrive later, adding that the officials will handle the Adalat. When Jerald supported with some others, stuck to the stand, the deputy commissioner asked them to leave. As others too asked the protesters not to disturb the Adalat, the members got down from the dais.
The district in-charge minster arrived at the venue in the afternoon.
