Kundapur: Forest department traps leopard which created panic among residents

Kundapur, Nov 16: The leopard which created panic among the residents of Kakkeri of Salvadi in the taluk is finally got trapped in the cage placed by the forest department.

The people of Kakkeri had seen the leopard running around in search of food for some days. The forest department officials who got the information about the same from the locals, had kept the cage and tied a dog as bait and were waiting to catch the leopard since a week.

On the morning of Friday, November 16, the locals who saw the leopard got trapped in the cage, informed the same to the forest department officials. The officials of the forest department arrived at the spot and took the six-year-old male leopard and sent into the wild life zone.

DFO Prabhakaran, ACF Lohith, RFO, Prabhakar Kulal, subdivisional forest officer Uday, Somashekar and driver Ashok took part in the operation of sending the caught leopard to the wildlife zone.

    Its time to Breed these Tigers in captivity (multiply) and let them back into the forest...
    these will become extinct one day.
    and our future generation will have to see them in the Zoo. or on Books as extinct species...
    therefore the state govt should allot a budget to the veterinary colleges/Agricultural colleges .. allot land .. set up Clinics and Labs to do IVF/Cloning/tissue culture ..reproduce them..multiply and let them back into Sanctuaries...
    it is our Responsibility and duty to conserve and multiply nature.

    I pity these animals.It is not meant for such wild animals .They cant stay in forest,whereas there are hardly forest and cant hunt any other wild animals.so govt should simply transfer them in a far away forest where no people around live.
