Mangalore, Nov 8: The Mysore zone level inter-collegiate men's Kabaddi Tournament of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences , organized by Netaji Nursing College in Mannagudde in the city, was held at Mangala Stadium here on Thursday November 6.
Speaking on the occasion after inaugurating the tournament, international Kabaddi referee Premnat Ullal said, that Kabaddi is the game which has always maintained India's dignity in the field of sports, at the global level.
Kabaddi has a history of over 4,000 years. It has gained recognition at the international level as well. Efforts are on towards including Kabaddi as one of the sports in Olympic games. Institutions and organizations should encourage it and make it popular among more and more people of the country, he said.
President of Premakanti Education and Endowment Foundation Prof A M Premalata presided over the occasion.
Sudhir Prasad Shetty was the chief guest. Principal of college Prof Ravindra, senate member of University Dr Bharat Shetty, member of executive committee of the institute Ratnakanti Shetty, Devisharan Shetty and Harikiran Shetty were present.
Jelphy Jos compered the programme and Dr Shivasharan Shetty welcomed the gathering.
