Byndoor: Two arrested for killing elk in Mookambika sanctuary

Byndoor, Sep 7: Forest department officials have arrested two accused, who were slaughtering a male elk, approximately seven-years-old, after killing the same at Jadkal - Madooru Hoigundi, which falls under the limits of wildlife zone of Mookambika sanctuary.

Two other persons made good their escape in this operation. Thomas and Ibrahim are the arrested accused and they are in judicial custody now.



Deputy Regional Forest Officer (DRFO) Siddeshwar and personnel, during their routine patrol near the canal of Hoigundi of Madoor village, noticed some people slaughtering the elk and were successful in arresting two of them including the butchered elk and the tools used to cut the meat.

Apart from DRFO Siddeshwar, forest guard Vivek, forest watchmen Surendra and Naveen Shetty took part in the operation.
