Mangaluru, Sep 2: City police in collaboration with Vijaya Karnataka daily newspaper organised a mass rally, awareness programme on drugs on August 28. Thousands of students participated in the rally. The rally started from the Bunts Hostel Circle to TMA Pai International Convention Centre. Students of Milagres Degree College actively participated in the rally by carrying placards and shouting out slogans.

Chief Guest Dr Veerendra Heggade, dharmadhikari of Shree Kshethra Dharmasthala said that youth of today must ingrain the idea of Vitamin ‘N’ or say ‘No to Drugs’, so that there is no need for elders to counsel youth against such pitfalls.

Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, bishop of Mangaluru diocese released police dairy and saluted the spirit of the youth in responding to the campaign in such large numbers. He also said if the youth say ‘No to Drugs’ from their hearts and reject temptations of succumbing to them, they can well be on their way to become achievers rather than mere performer.

Chancellor of Yenepoya (deemed to be University) Abdulla Kunhi, deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada Dr Shashikanth Senthil, principal district judge Kadlur Sathyanarayana Acharya were present.
