Bengaluru, Sep 1: Leader of the opposition in Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), Padmanabha Reddy, has approached the state election commission, accusing MLC, C M Ibrahim, of violating the election rules by having his name in two different voter lists.

Speaking to media persons, Reddy said that as per law, it is unlawful to have one's name in two different voter lists. He said that Ibrahim has his name in the voter list pertaining to Bhadravathi assembly constituency in Shivamogga district and Shivajinagar constituency in the city district. He said that the complaint filed by him is backed by documentary evidences. He added that state chief election commissioner, Sanjeev Kumar, has promised to scrutinize the application and take suitable steps.

In the papers provided to the election commission when he fought the council election, Ibrahim had provided his Bhadraathi address. His name also figures in the voter list published on January 2018, under the 66th polling booth of Bhadravathi constituency. He also is eligible as per another voter list to cast his vote in polling booth No. 37 in Shivajinagar assembly constituency.

BBMP mayoral election is scheduled to be held on September 30, and Ibrahim is expected to cast his vote in the election, on the basis of his name in Shivajinagar voter list.
