Mangaluru, Sep 1: Although railway tracks, which have been damaged by landslides happening on Siribagilu - Sakleshpur section Mangaluru - Bengaluru railway route, are being repaired since many days, rains have delayed the work of repairing of the tracks. As such, all trains moving on this route have been further suspended till September 15.

Bengaluru - Kannur/Karwar express train service on this route has been suspended. Subrahmanya Road - Hassan train service had earlier been withheld, after which the Bengaluru - Mangaluru train began to move via Thirupathur. As the journey on this route takes unduly long time, the train to Bengaluru from here will henceforth not move via Kerala, it is gathered.

As the night train between Bengaluru - Kannur/Karwar train has been cancelled now, a day train is being run now between Bengaluru and Hassan. A special Jan Sadharan train between Yeshwantpur and Hassan is being run on September 2, 8, 9 and 15, railway sources stated.

Out of 68 spots which landslides happened between Siribagilu and Sakleshpur section of the railway tracks, mud and boulders have been cleared from railway tracks in 48 spots. Wherever the tracks themselves had been damaged, they have been reinforced with sand bags temporarily. About 200 persons belonging to Mysuru railway engineering division have been working to restore the tracks here but because of frequent rains, work is not progressing at the desired speed, sources stated.
