Puttur: Royston Rodrigues of SPC bags Individual Championship in inter collegiate swimming

Puttur, Aug 31: First BCom student from St Philomena College, Puttur, Royston Rodrigues bagged the Individual Championship in swimming at the Mangalore University inter collegiate swimming championship by winning 7 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals. The swimming competition was held at the Corporation Pool of Mangala stadium, Mangaluru on August 30.

Royston won 7 gold medals in:
1500 metres freestyle
400 metres freestyle
50 metres butterfly
200 metres breaststroke
100 metres breaststroke
200 metres butterfly
200 metres individual medley

6 silver medals in:
100 metres butterfly
200 metres freestyle
100 metres freestyle
50 metres breaststroke
400 metres individual medley

3 bronze medals in:
100 metres backstroke,
4x100 metres freestyle relay
4x200 metres freestyle relay

Royston is a swimmer from Puttur Aquatic Club and is being coached by Partha Varanashi, Niroop G R, Rohith and Sri Krishna at the Balawana Swimming Pool, Puttur and at St Aloysius Pool, Mangaluru. He is supported by his college physical director, Prakash D'Souza.

Royston is the son of Everest Rodrigues (physical director at First Grade Government College, Madikeri) and Rufina Rodrigues (administrative staff at St Philomena College, Puttur).
