Mangaluru, Aug 30: The annual men’s basket ball tournament, Luke Maxmillion Rasquina Basketball Tournament, is scheduled to be held on September 3 and 4 at AIMIT campus of St Aloysius College, here.

The tournament is sponsored by Max Rasquinha, alumnus of St Aloysius College and chairman of IIPP in the city, residing in Houston, USA.

The tournament intends to encourage young college students to develop a desire toward sports. It focuses on intercollegiate basketball teams and tries to boost the players to strive toward greater achievements in the field of sports. It is believed that this tournament lights up a fire in each player to strive more in life, besides aiming at an overall development of a player along with academics.

Fifteen teams from Mangaluru and Bengaluru are expected to participate in the tournament. The finals will be held on 14th evening at 4 p m. Ram Rao, assistant commissioner of police, south sub division, in the city will be chief guest for the inaugural and Dr Fr Praveen Martis SJ, principal, St Aloysius College, Mangaluru will preside.
