Kasargod, Aug 30: The body of Sukumaran (48), chairman of the standing committee of Bedadka gram panchayat (GP), was found hanging from a tree near his home on Wednesday morning August 29.

Sukumaran, who had left his home on Tuesday, had not returned. As family members received no response on calling his cellphone, they and other relatives began to search for him. On Wednesday morning, his body was found hanging from a cashew tree located in the backyard of his home.

Sukumaran was also the secretary of CPM regional committee. A case of unnatural death in this respect was registered at Bedadka police station.
